Susan Briggs

On Sunday, July 25, 2021, Susan R. Briggs, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to eternal rest at age 78. Born November 1942, she was a daughter of the late William and Mildred Ruth.
In 2000, Susan retired from Industrial Logistics Systems Center located at Letterkenny Army Depot. She previously worked at several local banks. Susan was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg where she volunteered for numerous church activities.

Susan loved preparing delicious meals for the family. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and volunteering in her daughter’s Kindergarten classroom. Family vacations and making cookies with her grandchildren were some of her fondest memories. She cherished time with her sisters, going to teas and singing together. Susan’s greatest gift to her family was sharing her faith in the Lord.

She is survived by her husband Richard W. Briggs; two children, Pamela Reed (husband John) and John Briggs (wife Marlana). Susan will be fondly remembered by her five grandchildren: Leah Reed, Jade Reed, Brock Reed, Rachel Bricker (husband Collin) and Derek Briggs. She was recently blessed with the birth of her great-granddaughter, Eila Bricker. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brother John Robert Ruth. She is survived by siblings William Ruth, Evelyn Kauffman, Janet Besore, Mary Rosenberry, Emma Jane Kuhn, Martha Rotz-Tatem, Margaret Springer and Linda Edmondson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 14th at First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg, 225 S. 2nd Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. The family will host a luncheon celebration of Susan’s life in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
