Susan Llabres, of Fayetteville, PA, born November 17th 1941, passed on May 12th 2021 after a five year battle with cancer. Susan was born in Granite City, Illinois to Paul and Daisy Mikulas.
Susan served the US Government for 33 years. She always took all the courses and went to all the schools that became available to her in the Department of the Army which resulted in multiple promotions. In 1998 she retired from the Department and in 2000 she married Roman.
Susan had three children: Charles Thompson, David Thompson and Jennifer McCreary. She had 14 beautiful grandchildren and one great grandson. She leaves behind her beloved husband Roman, her sister Mary Ann Gargac, brother Paul Mikulas and many nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, David.
Susan was a voracious reader and was a beloved member of a local book club. Her voice and charisma were appreciated as part of The Harmony Singers and she also greatly enjoyed her time at Calvary United Methodist Church in the past years.
Her life was well-lived, with many challenges and sacrifices made, but her spirit and intelligence can only be described as the life of a warrior. She was always helping the poor and disadvantaged; she was a strong proponent of women’s rights. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service for Susan will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 150 Norlo Drive, Fayetteville, PA 17222. Rev. Suzanne Elliott will officiate. Interment will follow at Mont Alto Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L.
