Teresa M. Baughman DeShong, age 59, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 13, 2018, surrounded by her family. Born February 28, 1959, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sargie W. and Janice J. Sord Baughman.
Teresa was a 1977 graduate of CASHS. She was employed as a nurse’s aide and became the activities director at Fulton County Medical Center from 1979 until 2005. She and her husband also owned and operated C.H. Newman Beer Distributor in Fayetteville, PA. She attended Brownsville Church of God and was a former member of the Cumberland Valley Ski Lodge and Hagerstown Ski Lodge. In addition to her love of skiing, Teresa enjoyed traveling. Some of her furthest and favorite destinations were Mexico, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman Islands; as well as ski resorts near and far. Well known for her baked corn and coleslaw, Teresa cherished caring for her family and cooking for them on the holidays. She loved hummingbirds and collecting bears, which could be found all around her home. As Nana, her home was also filled with many pictures of her grandchildren of whom she was very proud.
Surviving is her husband of 40 years, John A. DeShong, whom she married May 6, 1978, two children, Jacquelyn Washington (husband Granville, III) of Chambersburg and Jamie Crout (husband Charles, Jr.) of North Ridgeville, OH; six grandchildren, Clayton Doll, Shayla Washington, and Ian, Addison, Sydney and Landon Crout; two siblings, Wava Glenn (David Stanley) of Millville, PA and Brian Baughman (wife Barb) of Fayetteville, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 17, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Victor Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
