Theda A. Divelbiss, 88, of Chambersburg, PA, died at 10:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born February 28, 1923 in McKnightstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd E. and Leila Frederick Andrew. Theda was a 1941 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and retired in 1983 from Letterkenny Army Depot with twenty-five years of service. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fayetteville and a life member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion Auxiliary, Clarence Armstrong Post 6241 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and NARFE Chapter 1063 where she served as the Service Officer since 1988. She also held membership in Martha Custis Chapter #342 Order of Eastern Star and the Golden Opportunity Club. Theda served since 1989 on the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council. Her beloved husband, Harold D. Divelbiss, whom she married October 28, 1951, preceded her in death on February 6, 1987,
The last of her immediate family she was preceded in death by two brothers, William F. and Harvey L. Andrew. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 3, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fayetteville, PA. Rev. Eloise Shanley will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home where members of Martha Custis Chapter #342 will conduct an Eastern Star service at 8:00 PM. Friends will also be received one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
