Thelma J. Carbaugh, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on May 21, 1938 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Genevieve Sachman Thomas. A homemaker most of her life, Thelma was a life member of Franklin Fire Company Ladie’s Auxillary. Thelma was a fan of NASCAR and an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, but more than anything else, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her beloved husband, Earl J. Carbaugh passed away on March 9, 2011.
Thelma is survived by four children, Joyce Carr and husband Sonny of Fayetteville, Roy Jacob Carbaugh and wife Buffy, Tracy L. Miller and husband Dennis, and Anthony Carbaugh and wife April, all of Chambersburg; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nellie Hawbaker and Mary Perry, both of Chambersburg; and a brother Ted Thomas of Mechanicsburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Earl Jeffrey Carbaugh and Melvin Carbaugh; and 2 sisters, Margaret and Patsy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Pastor Emmert Banzhoff will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Thursday April 2, 2015 and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
