Theodore Overcash

July 14, 1933 — June 3, 2017

Theodore C. Overcash, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday morning, June 3, 2017 at his home. Born July 14, 1933 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Donald K. and Elizabeth E. Summers Overcash. He was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and served honorably with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. A truck driver most of his life, he was employed at the former Strickland Wilson Trucking; Reese Trucking; and retired from Metropolitan Trucking in Bloomsburg, PA after many years of service. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God; Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion; Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224; and the Marine Corps League, all in Chambersburg. Mr. Overcash loved the beach and looked forward to family trips to Myrtle Beach every summer; he enjoyed family functions at the river; and will be remembered for always having a pocket full of quarters for his grandchildren. His wife, A. Charmaine “Sherry” Ridenour Overcash, preceded him in death on February 20, 1996.

He is survived by his son, Curtis T. Overcash of Chambersburg; his daughter, Gina K. Atkinson of Camp Hill; three grandchildren, Brittani C., Cortney N., and Ryan C. Atkinson; and two great-grandchildren, Lydia C. and Vayda E. Atkinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Overcash, and his sister, Beverly Ann Cipolla.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Aaron Lawrence will officiate. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
