Thomas H. “Bud” Baker, 86, of Chambersburg, PA, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at home. Born December 19, 1927 in Letterkenny Township, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Kathleen Hammond Baker. A graduate of the former Quincy High School and a US Army veteran of the Korean War, Bud was employed early in his life as a driver with the CV Feed Company. He then drove for Oliver Oil Company and later retired in 1989 from Penn-Mar Oil Company (formerly L.K. McKenzie and Sons), where he worked as an oil burner repairman. He attended Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a part of the Men’s Sunday School Class and had volunteered his time to repair and clean the furnace. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting. Bud often repaired things for his neighbors and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah J. Cover Baker, whom he married November 27, 1952; two children, Rhonda R. Bolinger and Clifford D. Baker (wife Lori), all of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Alan D. Bolinger, Cory A. Baker, and Zachery A. Baker; and three sisters, Ann Crouse (husband Jerry) of Shade Gap, Carolyn Shellings and Joyce Easter, both of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Winifred Bowen, Joan Dolata, and Rosemarie Halderman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2014 at Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Trisha Brandt officiating. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
