Thomas C. “Barney” Barnhart, age 84, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 6, 1931, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Leslie Little and Iva Belle Barnhart.
A Truck Driver most of his professional life, Barney retired in 1989 after 27 years of service. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League in Chambersburg, the Cumberland Valley Hose Company, where he served as a past Secretary, and the Walk No More Hunting Club. In addition to being active and spending time at the hunting club, Barney enjoyed hunting, riding his scooter, and riding his trike.
Surviving are two sons, Gary L. Barnhart (wife Debbie) of Fayetteville, PA and C. Michael Barnhart of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patsy Ann Fahnestock Barnhart in 2006 and a son, Rodney K. Barnhart in 1976.
Funeral services to honor Barney will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. John Ile will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Salvation Army, 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
