Thomas B. Birks, Jr.

Thomas B. Birks, Jr., 77, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at his home. Born February 1, 1947 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Thomas B. Birks, Sr., and Frances I. Lescalleet Birks.

 A US Navy veteran, Thomas served honorably on the USS Guadalcanal during the Vietnam War. He earned an Associate’s degree in Building Construction and Technology from Harrisburg Area Community College. He was employed as a Project Manager with ECI Construction. He was also employed with several other construction companies throughout his career. He was a member and past Quarter Master of the York Springs VFW Post. Thomas enjoyed drag racing his 1969 Plymouth Valiant “Mr. Mopar” at South Mountain Dragway and Mason Dixon Dragway. He also enjoyed building projects around the house.

 He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anita L. Moore Birks, whom he married on June 18, 1976; seven children, Honya A. Korrel (Brian) of Aspers, Alycia D. Birks of New Oxford, Tiffany A. Barger (Calvin) of Martinsburg, WV, Chad A. Birks of Fayetteville, Seth-Patrick K. Birks (Mandy King) of Inwood, WV, Asa C. Birks (Jen Keeney) of Hanover, and Lukas A. Birks of Fayetteville; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and two siblings, Lynne Riche of New Oxford and Diana Portner of Emmitsburg, MD. Aside from his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by one son, Travis S. Birks.
