Thomas Raymond Dudney, 66, of Red Lion, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital. Born June 29, 1956, he was a son of Helen Maxine Art Dudney of Chambersburg, and the late Thomas R. Dudney.
In addition to his mother, Thomas is survived by his wife, Karen Ann Kelley Dudney whom he was happily married to for the past 45 years; one daughter, Crystal Dudney of Red Lion, PA; three grandchildren, Mariah April Teague of NC, Justin Sean Teague and wife Yenssia of NC, and Ryan Daniel Teague of Red Lion; five siblings, Janis Glick and husband Denny of Dublin OH, Lori Weaver and husband David of Fayetteville, James Dudney of Washington DC, Robert Dudney of Columbus OH, and David Dudney and wife Lisa of Hempfield Township PA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Nellie Kelley of Shippensburg; and sisters-in-law, Jackie Fetter and husband Randy of Mt. Airy, MD, Peggy Kersher and husband Craig of Reading, and Vicky White and husband Thomas of Shippensburg. Aside from his father, Thomas was preceded in death by two children, April Renee Dudney on January 9, 1985, and Sean Thomas Dudney on October 15, 1986; and two sisters, Carol Whitten and Natalie Craft.
Thomas was a 1975 graduate of Shippensburg High School. He was employed as a welder at the Frick Company, and later at York International as a Client Sales Representative and finally at Billet Industries as an Estimator until his retirement in October of 2022. He designed metal grates for use in sidewalks and roads and also manufactured parts for oxygen tanks for use with the US Navy. Thomas enjoyed golf and was part of several leagues at Bridgewater Golf Course. He also enjoyed skiing, boating, water skiing, hiking, bowling and woodworking, having made many items such as jewelry boxes, toy chests, coin holders and Adirondack chairs for family and friends. A very proud father and grandfather, he found great joy in Mariah’s graduation from York College and position as a teacher, Justin’s accomplishments in the US Marine Corps and Ryan’s accomplishments in school and extracurricular activities.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Fr. Matthew G. Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org
