Thomas Gene “Tom” Kane, 77, of Marion, PA, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Chambers Pointe. Born July 22, 1945, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey R. Kane, Jr. and Mary Cool Kane.
Tom was a 1963 graduate of Shippensburg High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years. Tom began his career working for Letterkenny, Domestic Pump, Horn Motor Express, Nitterhouse Concrete for 18 years, and finally Shippensburg University, where he retired in 2013 after 13 years of service. He was a former member of Ebenezer U.B. Church, where he had helped in different capacities, including trustee, usher, and food pantry volunteer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, attending tractor pulls, and local auctions.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eileen Diehl Kane, whom he married on November 20, 1966; two children, Allen Robert Kane (Kristina) of Greencastle, Pa and Ellen Sue Egolf (Kevin) of Waynesboro, PA; 6 grandchildren, Spencer, Stacia, Scot, and Simon Egolf and Justin and Collin Kane; and a brother, Galen Kane (Vickie) of Orrstown, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Gary Hornbaker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 4 from 7 – 9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home. Private interment will follow on Saturday in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Michael J.
