Thomas Kohler

Thomas E. Kohler, Sr., 71, of Chambersburg, PA, went to be with The Lord Friday, August 23, 2013 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 16, 1941 in Chambersburg, he was the son of Janet Shughart Kohler and her late husband Hughie E. Kohler.

Mr. Kohler worked as a supervisor at the Scotland School for Veteran’s Children until his retirement in 1992 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed being with family and friends, working in his garage, gardening, and spoiling his dog “Buggs”.

He is survived by three children, Patricia A. Kelly and husband Patrick of Chambersburg, Pamela R. Bollinger and husband Tommy of Chambersburg, and Thomas E. Kohler, Jr. and wife Pamela of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Joshua L. Kelly of Chambersburg, Russell K. Stiver and wife Shawna of Chambersburg, Matthew A. Kohler and fiancé Kayla Davies of Fayetteville, and Colby A. Kohler of Chambersburg; one step-great grandchild, Lacee L. Fore of Chambersburg; one great-grandchild, Bryce T. Stiver; a sister, Tressa A. Elter and husband Brad, of Chambersburg; one niece; two great-neices; and two great nephews. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Spoonhour Kohler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The Rev. Staci Geesaman will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
