Thomas O. Marshall, Jr., age 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Hunker, PA, on July 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Thomas O. and Venera Dulcenia Rager Marshall.
A 1944 graduate of Youngwood High School, Mr. Marshall went on to serve his country honorably in both the USCG Merchant Marines during WWII and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He continued his service career in the Civil service, retiring from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1984, after 30 years of service as an electronics technician. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW, Marine Corps, American Legion, Amvets, and Elks Lodge, all in Chambersburg, PA. Mr. Marshall enjoyed golfing, travel, watching the Pirates and the Steelers, and WWII history.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Joann Delong Marshall; three children, Thomas O. Marshall III of Shippensburg, PA, Cynthia M. Orr of Chambersburg, PA, and Blair K. Marshall (wife Diane) of Upper Black Eddy, PA; three grandchildren, Matthew Marshall, Alexandra Orr, and Noah Marshall; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Jane Leonard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 10 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 431 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201, where Rev. Dr. Aaron Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 25, 2019, from 4 – 5 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the above church. Interment with military honors provided by members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
