Thomas Palmer

Thomas James Palmer, age 85, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Thursday evening, April 2, 2015 at Pinnacle Heath in Harrisburg. Born January 30, 1930 in Newton Hamilton, PA, he was the son of the late James H. Palmer and Naomi Irvin Palmer.

Early in his life, Tom worked as a dairyman for the Milton Hershey Estates. He then worked as an AI Technician for Atlantic Breeders for 14 years and then with Sire Power until his retirement in 1993. He also worked as a custodian for CASD. Tom was of the Protestant faith and he enjoyed reading. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elva J. Pollock Palmer, whom he married on October 21, 1950; two daughters, Diane Richardson (Rick) of Chambersburg, and Pamela Wertner (John) of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Kelly Turner (Mark) of Chambersburg, Colin Wertner of Chambersburg, and Timothy Wertner of Hanover, PA; three great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; four sisters, Joyce Bollinger of Huntingdon, PA, Jeanne Rutherford (Clarence) of Altoona, PA, Lois Hooper of Huntingdon, PA, and Patricia Edgin of Huntingdon, PA. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by a sister, Betty McClellan.

A funeral service to honor Tom’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Eugene Martin will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2015 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
