Thomas B. “Tom” Shearer, age 79, of St. Thomas, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Born in Fannettsburg, PA on December 9, 1936, he was the son of the late Gamble and Grace Brown Shearer.
Mr. Shearer was a 1955 graduate of the Fannett-Metal High School, he went on to work at Craft Press until its closure and then at G.S. Electric for a number of years, where he retired from. He was a former member of the Marine Corps League and the Loyal Order of the Moose #842, both in Chambersburg. Mr. Shearer enjoyed photography, spending time with family, and enjoying a good meal.
Surviving are two daughters, Lori Pittman (husband Tim) of Chambersburg, PA and Shari Ray (husband Greg) of Ft. Loudon, PA; two step – daughters, Nina Wile (husband Tom) and Karan Berry (husband Doug); three grandchildren; four step – grandchildren; five great – grandchildren; ten step great – grandchildren, and two siblings, Ruby Briggs of Indiana and Dorothy Walls of St. Thomas, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Shearer in 2003, a sister, Isabell Mixell, and three brothers-in-law, Lester Mixell, Julian “buzz” Briggs, and Sam Walls.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Harold Yeager will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Lung Association, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
