Timothy Michael Varner, 58, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 24, 1959 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Daniel B. and Rhoda Belle Knepper Varner. He was a graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. Tim recently retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with over thirty years of service. During that time he took pride in being able to help students at the former Scotland School for Veterans Children and residents of South Mountain Restoration Center. He was a member of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Club and the Conococheague Archers. An avid hunter, he enjoyed shooting archery, golfing, and riding motorcycle, but most important to him was spending time with his grandchildren who were his life.
He is survived by two sons, Michael A. Varner and wife Christina of Hollidaysburg, PA and Matthew D. Varner and wife Jennifer of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Caleb, Anna, Addison, Luke, Kaylee, and Leah; and his life-long friend and companion, Sue Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Vaughn.
A memorial service to celebrate Timothy’s life will be celebrated at 4:00 PM Friday, January 19, 2018 at King Street United Brethren Church, 162 East King Street, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 PM Friday at the church.
