Troy Smith

Troy Eugene Smith, age 49, of McConnellsburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the VA Hospital in Martinsburg, WV. Born October 13, 1967, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Blaine M. and Judith E. Smith.
A 1985 graduate of the Chambersburg Area School District, Troy went on to serve his country honorably in both the U.S. Army and the U. S. Air Force National Guard for 22 years. Troy had a passion for the military and those who have served, one of his favorite pastimes was to talk to and listen to the stories of the older veterans, however his most cherished time was spent with his daughters. Troy also loved to farm, go fishing, listen to music, collect various firearms, and hunting. Troy was a member of the VFW Post 655, the American Legion Post 561, both of McConnellsburg, PA and the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge # 948, in Martinsburg, WV.
In addition to his parents, Troy is survived by his two daughters, Jordin Smith and Morgan Smith both of McConnellsburg, PA; his sister, Missi Forrester (husband Toby) of Chambersburg, PA, nephew, Carson Forrester, Onda Borngesser and Mark Buterbaugh, who he considered his family, and his furry companion, Fred Frank.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where ANG Chaplain Ronald Faith will officiate. The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, from 5 – 9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, with full military honors provided by the U. S. Air Force and members of the VFW Post 655 and American Legion Post 561 honor guard both from McConnellsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Troy’s name be made to the VFW Post 655, 524 E Poplar St, McConnellsburg, PA 17233 or to the American Legion Post 561, 411 N 5th St, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
