Verna L. Rosenberry, 94 of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born December 4, 1927 in Three Springs, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Noah David Runk and Edith Marie (Weight) Runk.
Verna was a long time member of the Grand Point Church in Chambersburg where she enjoyed both attending and teaching Sunday school classes. Over the years she was a member of Senior Life and the Aid Society of the church. Her faith was the focus of her life; you could always find her reading her Bible and when she wasn’t it was always nearby. She enjoyed listening to Christian music and attending gospel concerts. She also liked traveling, reading and puzzle book word finds.
Surviving Verna are her children, Barry Stoner and wife Chin Hui of Nevada, Samuel Stoner of Chambersburg, and Jauvadene Sleighter of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Willard Ledane Runk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Norvelle Stoner, Sr.; second husband, Delano Rosenberry; her eldest son, Norvelle Stoner, Jr.; and siblings, Denver, Vera and Madeline Runk, and Rev. Janice Black.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201, where Rev. Lawrence Metzler will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Point Church at the above address. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
