Vesta Adams

Vesta M. “Mae” Adams, age 86, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her home. Born June 24, 1927, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Lula Hershey Jones. Her beloved husband, Joseph A. Adams, Jr. preceded her in death on February 13, 2003.

Mrs. Adams spent her entire career as a nurse’s aid in Chambersburg. After her retirement she volunteered her time at Menno Haven Retirement Community. Here hobbies included knitting and crocheting. She was a life member of VFW Post 1599 Auxiliary, and American Legion Post 46 Auxiliary, both in Chambersburg.

She is survived by four children, Josephine A. Rhodes (husband David) of Clear Spring, MD; Mary Vandrew of Marion, PA; Kathleen M. Neighbers (husband Dr. Bruce J.) of Chambersburg, PA; Joseph A. Adams III (wife Cindy) of Auburn, AL; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Samuel R. Adams and two siblings.

Arrangements entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA or to Helping Hands, 330 Lindeman Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
