Victoria Newcomer

Victoria (Vickie) Katherine Rennecker, Newcomer, age 97, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Chambers Point formerly Penn Hall Nursing Center. Born in Hagerstown, MD on January 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charles Abram and Sadie Viola Boner Rennecker.

She was a very active member of King Street United Brethren Church and teacher of the “Buds of Promise Sunday School Class” for 37 years. Serving in the Missionary Society and Shepherd Committee she visited the church’s home bound, as well as those in nursing homes, Penn Hall and in the Hospitals. Weekly she drove volunteers to the Piney Mountain Home where they visited, wrote letters, replaced the water pitchers and did other duties as requested by the nurses and patients. This prayer warrior will be greatly missed!

Mrs. Newcomer is the last of her immediate family. She is survived by one nephew, Charles D. Long of Wilmington, NC and a number of great- nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Newcomer, who was called home in 1992; four sisters, Alvernia Susen McCleland; Martha Ruth Batt; Flo Louise Rennecker; Zelda V. Schlotterbeck, and nephew, Charles M. Magaha, all of Hagerstown.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2 PM in Norland Cemetery, 2295 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to King Street Church, 162 East King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
