Victoria A. Young passed away April 17, 2014 at home. Born, April 15, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Katrina Young of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Victoria graduated from the Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1960, the Pennsylvania State University in 1964, and earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland in 1975.
Victoria initially was employed as a third grade elementary teacher in Chicago, Illinois. Upon her return to Franklin County, Victoria served for many years as the head librarian of the Lillian S. Besore Memorial Library, in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, until her retirement.
Throughout her life, Victoria was the affectionate owner of a series of dogs who provided loyal companionship to her. A lifelong beach lover, Victoria resided part-time in Chincoteague, Virginia, where she enjoyed the sea coast, shore birds, and wild ponies. A longtime and avid Penn State football fan, as well as alumni association member, Victoria attended many Nittany Lion football games. She also enjoyed the performances of the Penn State Blue Band.
She is survived by her daughter, Cassandra Rahauser of Chambersburg (married to David), and a grandchild, Marcus Rahauser.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
