Violet R. Burns, 82 of Fayetteville died on Saturday, October 27, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on April 25, 1930 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late George and Cora Henry Bard. Her beloved husband Ray C. Burns, Jr. preceded her in death on December 7, 1981.
Violet was a life member of VFW 1599 Ladies’ Auxiliary and King Street United Brethren Church. She worked at Menno Haven for a number of years in laundry service. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, embroidering, and going to yard sales.
Surviving is her daughter, Brenda McNew (husband Larry) of Fayetteville, PA; two granddaughters, Belinda Pugh of Fayetteville, PA and Bonita Hoffeditz of Fayetteville, PA; one great grandson, David L. Hoffeditz; two great-great granddaughters, Sierra Hoffeditz and Rayven Rockwell; four siblings, Clarence Rosco Bard of Chambersburg, George Bard of Portland, ME, Alice Dick of Hagerstown, MD, and Janice Shields of Fayetteville, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents and husband, Violet was preceded in death by 3 brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM; at Norland Cemetery, Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.
