Violet “Tiny” Sollenberger, age 93, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on March 2, 2015 at her home surrounded by family. Born in Carlisle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie Wenger Ickes.
A dedicated homemaker, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Sollenberger enjoyed spending time with her family. She also worked at Wenger’s Bakery, Dunkin Donuts, and cooking at the former Lighthouse Restaurant.
Surviving are four daughters, Donna Sollenberger of Chambersburg, PA, Doris Bartholomew of Sellersville, PA, Diane Freeman (Larry) of Chambersburg, and Debra Johnson (Timothy) of Chambersburg, PA; two granddaughters, Amy Ruscetti (David) of Pittsburgh, PA and Melissa Dick (Cory) of Chambersburg, PA; and five great grandchildren, Claire Violet and Nicklas Ruscetti and Dylan, Dalton, and Marley Dick and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Myron Sollenberger in 2010 and two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be in honor of Mrs. Sollenberger on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10 AM at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Hwy., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. James Sollenberger and Rev. Chuck Deshong will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 6-8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
