Virginia L. “Ninna Cooley, age 71, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 20, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Lester H. “John” and Ada Myers Fox.
A homemaker most of her life, Ninna worked as a manager at the King Korn Stamp Store and then at Delta Hosiery until the late 1970’s. She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church and a member of the Buds of Promise Sunday School Class. She was the “World’s Greatest Babysitter” and enjoyed reading and spoiling her nephews.
Ninna is survived by her husband of 43 years, Melvin Cooley, whom she married on February 6, 1971; two step sons, Andy Cooley and wife Thelma of Chambersburg, and Rickey Cooley and wife Sayoke of Shippensburg; two step grandchildren, Crystal and Christopher Cooley both of Chambersburg, two siblings, Lester L. Fox and wife Brenda of Chambersburg and Karen E. Fox of Chambersburg; three nephews, Michael T. Fox and wife LeAnne, Cory D. Fox and Jon R. Bookheimer, all of Chambersburg; a great-niece, Kaylee L. Fox; and her aunt, Margaret Harmon of Chambersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, September 22, 2014 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker and Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, September 21, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s name to the King Street Church, 162 East King St. Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
