Virginia Guyer

March 13, 1941 — April 15, 2016

Virginia Iona Guyer, age 75, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on April 15, 2016, at her home with her family by her side. Born in Chambersburg on March 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Welty M. and Iona B. Wilhide Shaffer.
A 1959 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Mrs. Guyer went on to become a self-employed CPA until her retirement in 2002. She was truly talented in many art forms and on many levels and especially enjoyed painting, quilting, sewing, stained glass, and many other creative crafts. She also enjoyed going boating.
Surviving is her loving husband of 56 years, M. Robert Guyer, whom she married on July 26, 1959; three children, Robin Sue Guyer of Hawaii, Steven Ray Guyer (wife Laura) of Chambersburg, PA, and Jennifer Diann McKenna (husband William) of Shippensburg, PA; six grandchildren, Jordan Guyer (Rebecca Faust), Kelsy Guyer, Patrick McKenna, Hanna Guyer, Spencer McKenna, and Nathan McKenna; one great-granddaughter, Aubree Guyer; her sisters, Jill Henry (husband Barry) and Jan Springer (husband Larry) and their children; and a brother-in-law, Gary Misavage. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Misavage.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 5 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. In celebration of Virginia’s life, the family suggests that everyone attending where lavender in her memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd. West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
