Virginia Martin

Virginia Harriet Reeder Martin, age 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Friday, September 7, 2012. Born in Letterkenny Township on October 21, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ralph G. Reeder and Irma G. Finafrock Reeder.
Mrs. Martin worked as a nursing assistant for most of her working years and finally retiring in 1999 from Menno Haven. A member of King Street United Brethren Church, she was active in the visitation program, pastoral care ministry, helped with the Wednesday evening meals, Prime Timers, and the New Life Sunday School Class. In addition to her church, Mrs. Martin enjoyed needlepoint, reading, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Susan C. Glunt (husband Wayne) of Spartanburg, SC and Luke C. Martin (wife Chrystal) of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Toshia Stephens (husband Antwain), Tyler Glunt, Christian Martin, and Chole Martin; two great grandchildren, Azia and DaeShawn Stephens; her step-mother, Doris Reeder; and nine siblings, Ruby Weller (husband Leonard), Verna Fritz, (husband Richard), Ralph G. Reeder II (wife Betty), Roy Reeder (wife Joanne), Donna Fortney (husband Dale), Doris Northeimer (husband Kenneth), Geneva Reeder, Elaine Snider (husband Jeffrey), and Galen Reeder (wife Clair). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Martin.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the King Street United Brethren Church Children’s Ministry, 162 East King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
