Virginia Shaffer

Virginia M. Shaffer, 77, of Fayetteville, PA, died Tuesday afternoon, March 12, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 18, 1935 in Rouzerville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Mary Scott Shifflett. A homemaker most of her life, Virginia was a member of Fayetteville Church of God in Fayetteville. She faithfully read her Bible; enjoyed cooking and taking rides in the country with her late husband. She loved her cats and always donated to the local animal shelter. Her husband, Joe H. Shaffer, whom she married June 7, 1952, preceded her in death on August 15, 2010.

She is survived by four children, Mickle J. (Mike) Shaffer of Fayetteville, PA; Bryan K. Shaffer of Spring Run, PA; William Gilbert of Chambersburg; and Melvin Gilbert, Sr. of Fayetteville, PA; six grandchildren, Kristina Shaffer; Michael Shaffer; Mindy Knoll; Kyle Shaffer; Nicole Shaffer; and Tiffany Shaffer; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David Henry Shaffer; two sisters, Elsie Stitely and Ella Mae Shifflet; and a brother, Leroy Shifflett.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Staci Geesaman officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
