Virginia “Ginny” H. Vickers, 90, of Menno Haven Northgate, Chambersburg, PA, formerly of Katonah, NY, passed away Saturday evening, January 27, 2018 at Menno Haven. Born September 5, 1927 in Braddock, PA, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Virginia Redman Hurrell.
She is survived by her husband, George M. “Mac” Vickers, whom she married October 4, 1958, daughter, Dr. Jean V. Lessard (Randy) of Chambersburg, PA, son, Dr. George H. Vickers (Nancy) of Aurora, IL, and five grandchildren, Jonathan Vickers, Paul Lessard, Jennifer Vickers, Allison Vickers, and Emily Vickers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Wade Hurrell and Allen Wade Hurrell.
Ginny and Mac were long-time, active members of The Presbyterian Church of Mt. Kisco, NY and its Congregational Choir. They were avid golfers and former members at the Mt. Kisco Country Club. She was also a volunteer for 37 years at the Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, NY. In addition, she had over fifty years of service to the Order of the Eastern Star and had been an active member of the Inner Wheel.
A memorial service to celebrate Ginny’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Menno Haven Northgate, 2227 Scotland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Chaplain Lori Witmer will officiate. A private inurnment will be held in the Columbarium at The Presbyterian Church of Mt. Kisco, NY.
