Virginia York, 90, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 11, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Patrick Michael and Catherine Conway Casey. At the age of six, her family moved to Floral Park, Long Island, NY.
Virginia earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Immaculata University in Frasier, PA. After she and her husband were married and while her husband was serving in the US Army, Virginia served as a secretary for the General Command at Ft. Bragg, NC. She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Orrtanna, PA and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Paul B. York, Sr., whom she married on December 27, 1950; two children, Paul B. York, Jr. (Linda Cook) of West Chester, PA and Maryann Burkley of Norristown, PA; three grandchildren; and her sister, Patricia Lodato of FL. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 8, 2018 at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 1095 Church Road, Orrtanna, PA 17353. Father Dominic DiBiccaro will celebrate. Inurnment in St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Cemetery will be at the family’s convenience. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. A vigil service will be conducted at 3:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church at the above address.
