Vivian M. Baker, 93, of Willow Hill, PA, passed away Monday evening, October 6, 2014 at Penn Hall in Chambersburg. Born April 29, 1921 in Fannettsburg, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Piper Edmonson. Mrs. Baker was a graduate of the former Metal Township High School. Early in her life she sold fire insurance for Lurgan Mutual Insurance Company and Valley Mutual Insurance Company. She worked as a school bus driver for more than 45 years and served as a Notary Public for more than 30 years. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church for 73 years and was active with the church choir and helping with church suppers. She was a former member of the Path Valley Lioness Club and currently a member of the Path Valley Lions Club and Metal Township Fire and Ambulance Company. She loved to bake, and at one time enjoyed league bowling. Her husband, John G. Baker, whom she married October 9, 1940, preceded her in death on August 28, 1996.
She is survived by two children, Kay “Katie” Ile and husband Don of Spring Run and Thomas F. Baker and wife Emma of Shippensburg; a grandson, Jonathan Baker and wife Leslie of Greencastle; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Jocelyn Baker; and two sisters, Reba Files of State College and Eleanor Hoover and husband George of Newburg. Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Claire Edmonson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 10, 2014 at Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Meagan Boozer and Rev. Marlin A. Neil officiating. Interment will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM Thursday at the church and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
