Vivian Cook

December 24, 1930 — February 23, 2014

Vivian J. “Bib” Cook, age 83, of Fayetteville, PA went to be with her Lord while surrounded by her family on February 23, 2014 at Gettysburg Hospital. Born December 24, 1930 in Chambersburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Evelyn McKelvey Fahnestock. Her husband of 63 years, Furman Cook, preceded her in death on April 24, 2013.
Bib worked over the years as a Nurses aid and caregiver at several nursing homes throughout the area. She and her husband enjoyed travelling to Pigeon Forge, TN, and going to Charlestown Casino. Her passion in life was taking care of people. She also loved the Christmas season, decorating the Christmas trees, collecting toothpick holders, and her loving K9 companion Little Bear.
She is survived by three children, Dennis Cook, Sr. and wife Charla of Beulah, CO, Debra Gilbert and husband Merle, Jr. of Chambersburg, PA, and Kelly Tolbert and husband Randy of Fayetteville, PA; three grandchildren, Danett Shaffer and husband Leon of Pond Bank, PA, Sam Cook and wife Lisa of Mercersburg, PA, and Edward College, Jr. of Chambersburg, PA; three great- grandchildren, Zachary Shaffer, Nichole Shaffer and Annalee Cook; one great-great grandchildren, Michael Shaffer; a brother, Larry Fahnestock and wife Janet of Fayetteville, PA; and a niece whom she treated as a daughter, Sharon Wingerd and husband Ronnie of Fayetteville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Peggy Byers and Terry Fahnestock.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2014 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Staci Geesaman and Rev. George Mower will officiate. Interment will follow in Grindstone Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 7:00 -9:00 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
