Vivian Hedrick Myers, age 79, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at her home on Sunday, January 18, 2015. Born May 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Wrights Hedrick.
Vivian was a 1953 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was a school bus driver for both the Chambersburg Area School District and Bricker Transportation, retiring in 2009 with over 40 years of service. She took great pride in providing safe transportation for more than three generations of students during her tenure. She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, AARP and the Pennsylvania School Employees Association. She also volunteered with the American Red Cross, enjoyed playing golf, watching Jeopardy and traveling with friends. Her greatest love the last few years of life was spending time with her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack P. Myers, whom she married on May 9, 1953. Three surviving children, L. Allan Myers of York, Tom R. Myers of Chambersburg and Jackie Ricker (Duite) of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Kylie Weaverling (Jeffrey) of Chambersburg, Corey Ricker (Ashley) serving the United States Air Force in southeast Asia, and Maggie Myers of Las Vegas, NV; five great grandchildren and siblings: Lillian Pool, Dorothy Parks, Sandra Gerhold, Bill Hedrick and Alice Angle. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas and adult son, Todd in 2008.
Funeral services to celebrate Vivian’s life will be held at 10 AM on Friday, January 23, in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Interment will following in Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Fisher House, in honor of her grandson Corey E. Ricker, 111 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20850.
