Vivian Newman

Vivian Z. Newman, age 85, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, April 8, 2015 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 27, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Loretta Phiel Schellhase. Her beloved husband of 54 years, Paul Newman, preceded her in death on September 16, 2003.

Vivian was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. Early in her life, she worked for the telephone company as a switchboard operator. She later worked at Leggett’s Drugstore and then Rite Aid in Fayetteville until her retirement in 1995. Vivian enjoyed working puzzles and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

Vivian is survived by three sons, Barry Newman (wife Candis) of Fayetteville, Gary Newman (wife Shirley) of Dover, PA, and Terry Newman (wife Lynn) of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two siblings Delores Otenberger and Joseph Schellhase, both of Fayetteville.

A graveside service to honor Vivian’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Rev. Bruce Gowe will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 PM on Friday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.
