Vonda R. Gunder, age 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Quincy, PA, on January 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Fairfax Freeman and Emma Heintzelman Freeman.
Mrs. Gunder was a 1946 graduate of the former Quincy High School. She was fortunate enough to be a homemaker all of her adult life. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and most of all caring for her family. Mrs. Gunder was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Alda Bower Sunday School Class, since 1948.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 69 years, Edward Gunder, whom she married on January 13, 1947, two daughters, Barbara G. Johncour-Rowan (husband Dan) of Chambersburg, PA and Kim G. Woodal of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren, Nate Johncour (wife Toni), Matthew Woodal (wife Kathy), Peter Johncour (wife Monika), Shanna Stevens (husband Matt), and Craig Woodal (wife Jennifer); ten great grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016, at 2 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. John Ile will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Quincy Cemetery.
