Voneda Louise “Vonnie” Mansberger, 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday evening, August 4, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 28, 1943 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Preston L. Cook, Sr. and Dorothy Thompson Cook. Vonnie was a 1961 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was employed for 35 years at the Scotland School for Veteran’s Children, retiring in 2003 as the Clothing Superintendent. She was an active member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg where she taught Sunday school, Bible school, and at the after school program. She enjoyed teaching children about God and in addition to teaching at her church she volunteered with the Good News Club and with Child Evangelism Fellowship.
She is survived by her husband, Willis Mansberger, whom she married November 5, 1967; her son, Kevin Mansberger of Frederick, MD; her daughter, Katina Grove (Joe) of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Briana Mansberger, Benjamin Grove, and Julianne Grove; her sister, Susan Truett; and two brothers, Preston Cook, Jr. and Roger Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 11, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Lester Kauffman will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
