W. Donald “Don” Diehl, 84, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 in his home. Born October 10, 1937, in Bedford, PA, he was the son of the late Gale and Kathryn (Koontz) Diehl.
Don was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1955. He then went onto obtain his bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg State College with the Class of 1960. He also served in the United States Army Reserves.
Don was the co-owner of his family business, Gale Diehl Sporting Goods, Chambersburg, until the store’s closing in 1987. He was a member of New Franklin Assembly of God Church where he served on the board, and he was a past member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and Deacon. He was a member of the Franklin County Isaac Walton League, where he held many offices over the years. He was an officer and life member of Full Gospel Businessmen and was on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army.
Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda (Huber) Diehl; two children, Dianne Alleman and her husband Todd of Williamsburg, VA and Dr. Mark Diehl of Dillsburg, PA; two grandchildren, Laurel and Logan Alleman; a brother, Thomas Diehl and his wife Jean of Chambersburg; and a nephew, Mike Diehl of Chambersburg.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at New Franklin Assembly of God Church, 2355 New Franklin Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor James Brunetta officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the memorial service. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by the Thomas L. Giesel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
