Wallace Gossert

Wallace W. “Wally” Gossert, Jr., age 58, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 19, 1957, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Wallace W. Gossert, Sr. and the late Myrtle Kline Gossert.
Wally was a 1977 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior high School. He was last employed as a maintenance mechanic at JLG, where he had worked for over 16 years. An avid softball player, Wally has played softball for various teams through the last 20 years, lastly playing for the Shippensburg Bullshippers. In addition to softball, he also enjoyed hunting and racing. Wally was a member of Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church, the New Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a former deputy fire chief, a life member of the Marion Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Guilford Athletic Association.
Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Christine Diehl Gossert, whom he married on April 29, 1995, two children, Jeremy D. Gossert and Megan N. Gossert, both of Chambersburg, PA; three siblings, John R. Gossert of Chambersburg, PA, Timothy L. Gossert (wife Brenda) of Fayetteville, PA, and Pauline K. Burkett of Greencastle, PA; a sister-in-law, Lorna Gossert of Chambersburg, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David E. Gossert.
Funeral services to honor Wally’s life will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015, at 11 AM at Fetterhoff Chapel, 4025 Chapel Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Trisha Brandt will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 15 from 5 – 9 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd. Chambersburg, PA and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
