Wallace Gossert

Wallace W. “Bose” Gossert, Sr., 80, of Chambersburg, PA, died Thursday morning, February 14, 2013 at his home. Born January 30, 1933 in Quincy, PA he was a son of the late G. Norman and Hazel Beam Gossert. A US Army veteran, he worked for the late Ralph W. Horst for thirty years. Bose was a life member of the Marion Volunteer Fire Company, the New Franklin Volunteer Fire Company, and the Mercersburg Sportsman’s Association. He was an avid hunter and had a God-given talent to find water underground with sticks. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a participant with Life Lutheran Services, Inc. for two years where he served as President of the Participant Advisory Committee. His wife, Myrtle Kline Gossert, preceded him in death 2000.

He is survived by his son John Gossert of Chambersburg, son Wally Gossert and wife Chris of Chambersburg, Daughter-in-law Lornie Gossert of Chambersburg, son Timothy Gossert and wife Brenda of Fayetteville, and daughter Pauline Burkett of Greencastle; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, G. Norman Gossert of Waynesboro, Ray Gossert of Waynesboro, and Glen Gossert of West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Gossert and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Yeager Gossert.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, February 18, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Matthew Plant and Rev. Warren Heintzelman officiating. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
