Wallace W. “Wally” Morris, age 87, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Magnolia’s Nursing Home. Born November 4, 1930, in Glouschester, MA, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Fedora Grumbine Morris.
A 1949 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Wally went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving aboard the USS Macon, a Heavy Cruiser for four years. An avid sports fan, Wally loved Trojan Football and Basketball, Penn State, and the Cleveland Browns. He was a regular attendee at Trojan games, along with his high school friend, Merle Pefley. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 1599, and the America Legion Post 46. He worked at Mack Truck for a number of years before retiring. After retiring, Wally started working for F&M Trust, where he worked for 10 years.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Shirley Brumbaugh Morris, whom he married on February 7, 1953; a son, Jeffrey Morris (wife Tracy) of Fayetteville, PA; three grandchildren, Tim Morris of Chambersburg, PA, Lori Garner (husband Paul) of Fairfax, VA, and Desi Bonebrake (husband Dan) of Fayetteville, PA; six great-grandchildren, Layne, Tristan, Sammy, Ella, Abby, and Emily; two siblings, Lionel Morris of Hagerstown, MD, and Gail Ann Cooper of Milton, DE. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carlin Morris.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Jeremy Lehman will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be provided by members of the VFW Post1599 Honor Guard.
