Walter Alpaugh

Walter Haydon Alpaugh, age 78, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Manassas, VA passed away in his home on Monday, July 9, 2012. Born October 26, 1933 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Walter A. and Frances E. Haydon Alpaugh.
Walt was a graduate of the University of Richmond with a BS Degree, he served his country honorably in the VA National Guard retiring as a Captain. Walt was a personnel officer for the CIA for 30 years, retiring in 1991. An avid Stamp Collector most of his life, Walt also had a passion for collecting royal Dalton Character Jugs, Antique Cars, and miniature cars.
Mr. Alpaugh is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Ruth Sanford Alpaugh, whom he married on January 26, 1980; three daughters, Beth Alpaugh Reid (husband Mike) of Manassas, VA; Cathryn V. Alpaugh of Lincoln, NE; and Amanda Alpaugh Student (husband John) of Nottingham, MD; and two grandchildren, Steven Lippman and Charlotte Reid.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or Trinity Episcopal Church, 9325 West St., Manassas, VA 20110 or Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
