Walter Lehman, Jr., 88, Possum Hollow Rd., died on Tuesday evening, November 15, 2016, at his home.
Born June 6, 1928, in Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Ada G. (Martin) Lehman. He was a member of the Antrim Mennonite Church near Greencastle and attended the Culbertson Mennonite Church near Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine M. Diller whom he married on November 16, 1949.
He is survived by his second wife, Almeda R. (Wadel) Martin, whom he married on November 1, 2003. He is also survived by five children: Daniel R. (husband of Margaret) of Chambersburg, Jason L. (husband of Eunice Anne) of Aaronsburg, Verna G. (Mrs. A. Leon Zeiset) of Chambersburg, Enos D. (husband of Janet) of Chambersburg, and Alice M. (Mrs. Galen L. Nolt) of Peach Bottom; 31 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; seven sisters: Grace (Mrs. Edgar L. Burkholder) of Chambersburg, Sarah of Chambersburg, Esther (Mrs. Nathan H. Diller) of Hagerstown, MD, Ruth (wife of the late Ira M. Miller) of Hagerstown, MD, Naomi (wife of the late Elmer H. Martin) of Flintstone, MD, Miriam (Mrs. Marvin A. Patterson) of Orrstown, and Eunice (Mrs. James W. Esch) of Lancaster; two brothers: Marcus (husband of the late Ferne Kauffman) of Mount Pleasant Mills, and John (husband of Lois) of Chambersburg.
Two brothers, Aldus (husband of Ruth) and James (husband of the late Catherine M. Eby) preceded him in death.
He also is survived by six step-children: Faye R. (Mrs. Andrew N. Brougher) of Chambersburg, LaRay P. Martin (husband of Joanne) of Newburg, Loren D. Martin (husband of Linda) of Orrstown, Treva C. (Mrs. Timothy M. Zimmerman) of Shippensburg, Faron G. Martin (husband of Nancy) of Shippensburg, and Ferlin J. Martin (husband of Cheryl) of Shippensburg; 45 step-grandchildren, and 57 step-great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the Antrim Mennonite Church, 9745 Antrim Church Road, Greencastle. The local ministering brethren will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Culbertson Mennonite Church, 5730 Sunset Pike, Chambersburg. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
