Walter Moul

October 19, 1930 — September 20, 2015

Walter W. Moul of Chambersburg, PA died at age 84 on Sunday, September 20, 2015, after a brief illness. He was born on October 19, 1930, in York County, the son of the late Walter R. Moul and Elsie G. Moul Johnston. He was married to Doreen Lesher Moul in June of 1950.
Mr. Moul was a 1948 graduate of Shippensburg High School. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served from 1952 to 1954. Upon discharge from active duty, he served in the active reserves, attaining the rank of Sgt. First Class. He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot during this period. Mr. Moul was a Quality Control Specialist in DESCOM, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Moul was a tax preparer at H and R Block for 35 years. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was also a member of Cumberland Valley Lodge 315 F&AM in Shippensburg, PA, Harrisburg Consistory, Shippensburg Scottish Rite Club, Shippensburg Historical Society, Pen-Mar Historical Recovery Association, Falling Spring AARP #2840, and the Chambersburg American Legion. Mr. Moul enjoyed playing tennis, golf, traveling the world, and was gifted with a green thumb. He was an avid gardener noted for his wonderful garden vegetables, especially his tomatoes.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen; a daughter, Kathleen Cullen (John) Appleton, WI; a grandson, Steven Cullen; a granddaughter, Hayley Cullen; 2 half-brothers; Raymond Moul (Joy), York, PA; Edward Moul, West Chester, PA; a brother- in- law Richard Lesher (Agnes), Chambersburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Billie Delano (Douglas), Leland, NC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, David Cullen.
A Memorial Service to honor Mr. Moul’s life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333, Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment in Spring Hill Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd. West, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Charity of One’s Choice.
