Walter Mulewich

Walter A. “Walt” Mulewich, Jr., age 63, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in the Harrisburg Hospital. Born January 13, 1950 in New Kensington, PA, he was the son of the late Walter A., Sr. and Angeline Olkoski Mulewich.
Walt worked as an environmental engineer for most of his career, working for Nassaux Hemsley from 1987 until 2000. Walt enjoyed camping, hiking, coaching soccer, and Steeler’s Sunday, however, his passion was taking care of and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a volunteer at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Surviving is his loving wife of 43 years, Linda Stahl Mulewich, whom he married on May 9, 1970; five sons, Walter III of Three Springs, PA, Edward of Chambersburg, PA Dan and wife Tia of Chambersburg, PA Steve and wife Beth of Fayetteville, PA, and Joe and wife Liz of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Lane, Noah, and Connor, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Jane Chapin.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family c/o Walt A. Mulewich III, 104 Hamilton Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17201. Contributions in Walt’s name will be forwarded to St. Jude’s or to the Bailey House.
