Wanda M. Shoemaker, age 84, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in her home with her family by her side. Born February 7, 1930 in Dublin Mills, PA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel A. and Francis Black Wilson. Her beloved husband, John J. Shoemaker, preceded her in death on December 17, 2007.
Mrs. Shoemaker was a member of Grindstone Hill Lutheran Church (Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church) in Chambersburg. She was employed at the former Stanley Company for 15 years, and then worked at the former Franklin County Home as an Aide retiring in 1992. She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Hicks of Punxatawny, PA, Trudi Rock of Homestead, PA, and Bonneta Terry of Dillsburg, PA; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lauver of Dillsburg, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
A private graveside service will be held at Grindstone Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. William Nienstedt will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
