Wanda McEntire Van Metre, 91, of Chambersburg passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Born October 6, 1919 in Trumbull County, OH, she was a daughter of the late Carmen and Charlotte Loveland Outland.
Wanda was a member of Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a former member of the Franklin County Farm Women, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Audubon Society. She also served on the Franklin County Election Board and was a member of the Chambersburg YMCA Fifty Plus Group. Wanda loved visits from her family, playing cards with family and friends, picnics at Caledonia State Park, birding trips with friends, reading, her trip to China, and traveling throughout the United States.
Wanda is survived by four children, Vicki Reichard and husband Dick “Whitey” of Fayetteville, Rich McEntire and wife Janice of Waynesboro, Tom McEntire of Frederick, MD, and Randy McEntire and wife Leslie of Round Hill, VA; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Owen of Barre, VT. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard A. McEntire on June 22, 1982; her second husband, Myron Van Metre on November 11, 2001; one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held in Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4856 Wayne Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:30 AM with Rev. Bill Nienstedt officiating. Interment will follow in Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
