Wayne "Jake" Poe

Wayne J. “Jake” Poe,75, of Spring Run, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017, at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center. Born June 4, 1941, in Charleston, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Duard and Geraldine Jefferis Poe.

A U.S. Army veteran and P.O.W., Jake honorably served during the Vietnam conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart medal. He later spent his years in the construction industry working at various oil fields.

Jake is survived by his wife of 18 years, Virginia Piper Poe, whom he married on May 23, 1998; one son, Stuart Poe of Greencastle; two step-sons, Lester “Chuck” Hammond III (companion Jessica Shoemaker) of Dry Run, and Keith Hammond and wife Missy of Concord; three grandchildren, Courtney Campbell (husband Brian) of Shade Gap, PA, Kaitlyn Hammond, and Kolby Hammond of Concord, PA; and one great-grandson, Bryce Campbell..

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1 PM at Upper Path Valley Church Cemetery, 16950 Main St., Spring Run, PA; where Pastor Darwin Goshorn will officiate.
