Wayne G. Strite, 85, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, July 4, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 27, 1930 in Maugansville, MD, he was a son of the late Abram J. and Emma Eberly Strite. Mr. Strite was a farmer most of his life and worked at L & S Stone in Chambersburg for ten years. He served as director of King’s Troubadours for twenty five years. Mr. Strite attended World Harvest Outreach in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Martin Strite, whom he married February 18, 1953; three children, Eugene R. Strite (wife Karen) of Chambersburg, Joyce M. Lehman (husband Merle) of Chambersburg, and Arvin W. Strite (wife Vonn) of St. Cloud, FL; seven grandchildren, Selena Jetnarayan, Wesley Strite, Sherah Blankenship, Sheila Baldwin, Ryan Lehman, Brandon Ronk, and Cory Ronk; and twelve great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by two brothers, Allen Strite (wife Anna Mae) of Clear Spring, MD and Clair Strite (wife Naomi) of Townville, PA; and two sisters, Velma Horst (husband Glenn) of Winchester, VA and Alta Bussard of Monrovia, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Nelson, Garnet, and Lawrence Strite.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at World Harvest Outreach, 1090 Wayne Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be at 9:30 AM Wednesday at the Mercersburg Mennonite Church Cemetery and then friends and family are invited to celebrate Wayne’s life at 11:00 AM Wednesday July 8, 2015 at World Harvest Outreach where Pastor Mark Durniak will officiate.
