Wilbur Caufman

Wilbur R. Caufman, age 79, of Fayetteville, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2011, while surrounded by his family at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 28, 1932 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Melvin B. and Dorothy E. Rife Caufman.

A retired dairy farmer, Wilbur also delivered feed for Franklin Feed and Supply. He was a member of the New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church. Some of his interests included hunting, gardening and raising goats and chickens.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bertha M. Wiles Caufman, whom he married on July 7, 1956; four children, Jean L. (and husband, Dean) Hess of Greencastle, Ray E. (and wife, Teresa) Caufman of Fayetteville, LeRoy A. (and wife, Sherry) Caufman of Greencastle, and Anita K. (and husband, Craig) Schellhase of Chambersburg; one sister, Lois (and husband, Donald) Miller of Greencastle; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 11, in the New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, 1575 Mont Alto Road, Chambersburg, with Pastor Lawton Jacobs and Pastor Maurice Bender officiating. Interment will follow in New Guilford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd. Chambersburg, and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to New Guilford Brethren in Christ at the above address (17202).
