William D. “Butch” Behel, Jr., 68, of East Waterford, PA, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at home. Born on October 9, 1946 in Altoona, PA he was the son of the late William D. and Mary E. Lafferty Behel. Butch spent his working years at Letterkenny Army Depot and as a heavy equipment operator for Penn Dot, before retiring in 2007. He was a member of McCartney Post, 232 American Legion, Spring Run. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He greatly enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, excavating, racing stock cars, and camping.
Butch is survived by a sister Mary E. Burdge of East Waterford, PA and 14 nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lafferty and a sister, Laura Mills.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA. Terry Lafferty will officiate. Interment with military honors provided by McCartney Post 232 Honor Guard will follow in Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2015 and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
