William Thomas Benson, Jr., age 66, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Monday December 23, 2013 at his home. Born June 30, 1947, he was the son of William T. and Florence Benson, Sr.
Bill worked as a forklift operator for Rowman & Littlefield Publishing in Hagerstown, MD. A U.S. Army veteran, Bill served honorably in Vietnam earning, among other commendations, the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and The Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of VFW Post 1599, American Legion Post 46, and Veterans of Vietnam War Post 41 all in Chambersburg. He also was a member of the NRA, the North American Hunting Club, the National Sheriffs’ Association, the 21-Day Retreat Organization, and the Military Order of Cooties Pup Tent #72.
Bill is survived by his loving companion Barbara Kauffman of Fayetteville, PA; two children, Deborah Benson of Indianapolis, IN, and Russell W. Benson and wife Marie of Mocksville, NC; and five grandchildren, Samantha, Kaitlyn and Nicholas Harwood, and Cheyenne and Caleb Benson.
